Waiting

How long will we wait?

Until our skin is shallow and brittle

Until our hearts stop beating

Until the hope of anew fills us with delight

For we are waiting

Waiting for change, waiting for passion

Waiting for the return of the one we lost

Because we all have known loss and wonder

When will it end? The waiting

When will sunrise rise upon us?

Perhaps, it be best that we rise with the sun

For life does not wait, we do

There is no point in waiting

For what we had, for what we wish will come

Life does not happen in the past or future

It exists in the present, within and around us

We choose our flight or prison

Some with delight, embrace life

Others with fear, suffer through it

And some of us, wait futilely for it to come
