From Darkness To Light

In the darkness I saw light

Neon, bright, and frantic

Oh what a joy, what a sham

Life was an endless parade

Flickering lights in carrousel

In the darkness I saw light

I heard the rumble, all noise no substance

The flashes revealing the snapshots

Of flesh, of life, of lies

Today is dark, and quiet

For the first time, no light

The faint smell of nature is in the air

I inhale, and pause, Is it light or dark?

From within I murmur...

It is light in the darkness

What a sweet reprieve to know

That dark is light and light is dark

For the heart can only see

In the quiet of darkness, in the plain of light

In the smell of nature, and the simple sound

As clarity cannot exist without the contrast of light and dark
